A standout among the most noteworthy monasteries in Crete.  The monastery was built on the site of an old church in the 17th century. The architecture of the monastery is characterized by its Byzantine cruciform style with three domes and its Ionian and Corinthian-style columns. The monastery produces its own olive oil and wine, and it also has its own small museum which you can visit.
